We are committed to improving our sustainability practices at every level of the business in an effort to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Our Good Earth Cotton® collaboration is just the beginning.
Designed in Melbourne
Since 2012, when Blue Illusion set out to create the most comfortable jean on the market, we have been consistently honing the design of our signature Bengajean®. We have always emphasised the use of natural fibres in our materials and we care about our environmental impact, which has led us to partner with Good Earth Cotton®. The process begins in our Blue Illusion Melbourne office where products are designed and Good Earth Cotton® materials selected by a team of designers.
Yarn by Good Earth Cotton®
Good Earth Cotton® has farms in both New South Wales and Queensland. Supporting local farmers, the climate positive cotton grown for our Bengajean® Good Earth Cotton® styles is picked right here in Australia. The cotton is then embedded with luminescent pigments which can be scanned and traced throughout the production process to ensure the cotton is Good Earth Cotton®.
Fabric Production in Turkiye
The process continues internationally in Turkiye, which is renowned for its denim industry. Here, our verified Good Earth Cotton® yarn is processed (spun, blended, woven, dyed) and turned into high-quality and durable denim fabric. Turkiye’s advanced technology means that less water is used in its denim production. Before shipment, the fabric will again be verified to be Good Earth Cotton®.
Garment Manufactured in Hong Kong
Blue Illusion has an excellent, long-standing relationship with a trusted manufacturer in Hong Kong. The denim is carefully cut, sewn and skilfully constructed to become the beautiful Bengajean® as we know it.
Back to Australia
The process culminates in 4 different Bengajean® styles all created from climate positive yarn finished and delivered to Australia. The Bengajean® then makes its way onto the shelves of our Blue Illusion boutiques. Customers can find the Good Earth Cotton® tag on their favourite Bengajean® Good Earth Cotton® garment and use the QR code to trace the cotton journey for themselves.
