Donna’s French Sparkling Lemonade Recipe

Donna’s French Sparkling Lemonade Recipe

We’re taking a trip to the hills and valleys of Provence! This southern region of France sees an average of 300 days of sunshine per year and is the top region in France for fruit and vegetables, including the citron de Menton.

Menton is a town on the French Riviera famous for its sandy beaches, exotic gardens, and juicy lemons! This recipe is an attempt to recreate a sparkling lemonade that I fell in love with there, and I think I’ve done it!

Our French sparkling lemonade recipe is la recette parfaite for brunch with friends or as a refreshment on a hot day. Santé !

Super simple ! All you need to do is juice your lemons, mix
the lemon juice with a simple syrup (sugar dissolved in water), and then add
ice, water, and soda! And there you have it!

C'est parfait for a spring day.

Les ingrédients

Lemons: 9

Water: 600 ml

Soda water: 1 bottle (750 ml)

Granulated sugar:
200 g

Ice

La préparation

Dissolve the sugar in 200 ml of water in a small saucepan on low heat, stirring to help the sugar dissolve. Set aside to
cool.

Roll your lemons against your countertop to loosen them. This will help you extract the most juice. Cut them in half lengthwise, and then juice your lemons. You should get about 350 ml.

Once you’ve juiced your lemons, strain them into a pitcher and add the cooled simple syrup (sugar-water mixture). Add ice, the remaining water, and soda water, et voilà !

This is a très facile recipe that you can effortlessly embellish by replacing the simple syrup with mint or strawberry syrup instead. To make mint syrup, add equal parts mint, sugar, and water to a small saucepan and simmer for one minute. Let the mixture cool for 30 minutes before straining. To make strawberry syrup, add equal parts sugar, water, and chopped strawberries to a saucepan and simmer for
fifteen minutes.

Enjoy your sparkling lemonade on a warm spring day with friends and family or by yourself with a good book.
