On this International Women’s Day 2026, we peek behind the curtains of our Blue Illusion workplace and explore the quiet ways women show up for each other every single day.
Growth through support: Sarah’s story
Sarah Patterson is one of our talented young team members designing for the Blue Illusion woman. She started as an intern and has grown from strength to strength over her four years with us, now as a valued Design Assistant.
Care in leadership: Miranda’s story
Miranda Shane has been with Blue Illusion for over 13 years, rising to the role of Ecommerce Manager where she now looks after our online store and resale platforms. As a people leader, she knows how important compassionate strength is when it comes to cultivating happy, high-performing teams.
Women supporting women: a workplace culture
For both Sarah and Miranda, it’s the ways in which the Blue Illusion women show up for one another—and the broader community—that makes it such a special place to be.
“There has always been an emphasis on care and supporting each other,” says Miranda.
Sarah agrees, “When I experienced some health issues, I went through a period of adjustment,” she says. “Having a team that showed understanding and flexibility allowed me to navigate that time with less stress, which I am truly grateful for.”
This sense of support flows both ways—from the business supporting its people to our people supporting the business. Miranda shares a particularly personal story.
“Not long ago, our head office was short a team member,” says Miranda. “At the time, my sister was determining her next career move and open to temporary work. So, I spoke to the team lead, and they saw an opportunity based on my sister’s skillset. Through mentoring and support, this temporary role turned into a permanent one, and it has brought me so much joy to work alongside my sister, watching her grow within our shared workplace.”
Giving beyond ourselves: community connection
This supportive culture extends beyond the workplace and into the community—and it comes back to the core principles that have guided Blue Illusion from the beginning: to enrich women’s lives and have a positive impact on the world.
We have collaborated with World Vision to support under privileged women in creating these beautiful, handcrafted baskets. These one-of-a-kind baskets are handmade by the women of Lokichar, Kenya by using local natural resources to help support themselves and their families.
Alice and Ruth are part of a remarkable group of weavers and bead workers. After losing her husband in 2013, beading became a lifeline for Ruth — enabling her to educate her three children and build a more secure future. Her story, like Alice’s and those of the other women in their 15-member group, is one of resilience, strength and dignity reclaimed through craft.
Care as culture on International Women’s Day 2026
A culture of care is what shapes our commitment to the community, and, of course, to every Blue Illusion customer—ensuring she feels comfortable, confident and truly cherished—no matter the chapter she finds herself in. Because life can be messy, meandering and imperfect. But when women are supported—at work, in friendship, in community—their quiet strength becomes powerful.
For the modern woman, the art of becoming is never finished. Across life’s many chapters, we walk alongside one another, drawing strength and joie de vivre from the community that surrounds us. At Blue Illusion this International Women’s Day 2026, we are proud to celebrate a culture where generosity, connection and encouragement are not just ideals but are everyday practice—where uplifting women is part of what guides us forward.
